Universal Wireless Repeater

30/10/2011 15:10

While most people would like to say that there is nothing different about home networking in terms of wireless repeaters, they have come to a crossroads where repeaters seperate and haven't taken the time to understand how they all work.  Not all repeaters are the same, while they all essentially function as taking a signal and seeking to "repeat" it in another location, not all signals are handled the same way.  A universal wireless repeater for example is a device which ensures that it captures all signals and then rebroadcasts that signal.  Now, the tricky part here is that not all repeaters act this way which lead some people to believe that you can capture any signal with any router and repeat it.  However, if you in need of using some multimedia device, most routers which are designed specifically for internet use do not actually work that well in this regard unless they are exclusively connected to the network.

Therefore if you are looking for a universal wireless repeater, be sure to understand what device will need repeating.  If you take a universal wireless repeater and connect it to some of the better multimedia platforms which are available today you will most likely ensure that those signals be rebroadcasted at another location.  The routers and wireless repeaters which are designed only for cell phone use for example will not work.
